Bees Wax

The Magic Shield For Your Skin

Made by local honey-bees in Arrowtown New Zealand, Our beeswax forms a thin protective layer that remains on your skin as a barrier – sealing in moisture and protecting skin for up to 8 hours from environmental stresses like pollution, dust, and dry wind.

The magic of beeswax is that this protective layer is breathable! Unlike petroleum based products which suffocate the skin, beeswax enables healthy skin cell function without clogging or smothering pores.
Beeswax has amazing natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties – great at healing acne as well as any wounds or bacterial infections that tend to strike in winter.
It’s anti-allergenic too so soothes itching in cases of rash, insect bites, eczema and dry skin.

Carnauba & Candelilla Wax

Plants, not petroleum!

Carnauba wax comes from the leaves of the Brazilian ‘Tree of Life’. It’s one of the hardest natural waxes and is therefore extremely durable. Candelilla wax comes the from leaves of a small shrub.

Combined with our beeswax, these waxes create a very powerful barrier between your skin and environmental stresses like weather, pollution, and free-radicals.
This powerful protective barrier allows all the other nutrients and moisturisers in our balm to penetrate deeply into the skin, without drying out.
These plant waxes allow our Magic Balm to last in all conditions, without needing to use any industry-standard fillers like petroleum jelly. Petroleum-based products suffocate your skin, whereas our plant waxes and beeswax allow your wonderful skin to breathe!
Because of these waxes, we have no water molecules in Magic Balm. Because of this, no nasties can grow in the jar, and Magic Balm has a very long shelf-life.
Last but not least, these plant waxes help to make skin soft and smooth. As hypoallergenic ingredients, they are safe to use on inflamed and itchy skin.

Stearic acid helps remove sweat, dirt and excess sebum from the pores of the skin.
High in vitamin C and A, it creates plump skin by boosting collagen, as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By aiding the elasticity and flexibility of skin, it assists with the healing of scars.
Mango Butter is wonderful for extremely dry skin – flakiness, dry patches, peeling – as it provides deep and long-lasting moisture. Furthermore, it soothes skin from environmental stresses like insect bites.

Each of these fatty acids has its own unique benefit for skin cell health. For example, palmitic acid is a great emollient for softening and soothing skin. Linoleic acid prevents hair loss and assists in wound healing.
To put it simply, fatty acids are the building blocks of healthy cell membranes.
For skin cells, this means producing and maintaining the skin’s natural oil barrier. This is the skin’s natural process to keep skin hydrated, plump, soft and healthy.
Shea Butter is also high in vitamin A, one of the best anti-oxidants for your skin.

Sea Buckthorne Oil

The Golden Magic

Seabuckthorn Oil is an extremely powerful antioxidant, containing vitamins A B C D E & K, as well as omegas 3 5 6 7 and 9.
Omegas serve as the essential building blocks of skin’s surface layers, creating a smoother, more even, younger-looking, and healthier complexion. Omega 7 in particular but helps reduce inflammation such as acne.
Vitamin C and E are wonderful anti-oxidants for skin. Anti-oxidants are nutrients (vitamins and minerals) and enzymes that prevent and repair damage to the healthy function of the molecules in your body. In our case, they protect healthy skin cells!

Damage to skin cells occurs when free-radicals in the environment – such as solar radiation, air pollution, unhealthy diet – strip skin molecules of electrons, causing oxidation. Have you seen an apple turn brown in the air? That’s oxidation, and it’s the process that damages and ages skin.

Anti-oxidants prevent this process, blocking free-radicals by donating the electron themselves. That’s why it’s crucial to keep using your Magic Balm, creating a barrier between your healthy skin cells and the environment.

Vitamin E helps to protect your skin from sun and UV damage. Vitamin C produces collagen to keeps skin elastic and youthful. Vitamin K aids the skin’s healing process, assisting with wounds, scars, and stretch marks.
As an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, Sea Buckthorn Oil is a very powerful healing oil, reducing inflammation in conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.  It has been used in traditional medicines around the world for thousands of years, getting the nickname “liquid gold” and “God sent medicine”.

Coconut Oil

Cleansing, moisturizing & anti-bacterial

Coconut oil is a thorough, yet gentle cleanser. It’s an amazing make-up remover, deeply cleansing pores and allowing the skin to breathe. It also penetrates hair better than other oils for long-lasting moisture.
High in saturated fats, these retain the moisture content of skin and reduce moisture loss. As a mild oil, it’s very gentle on irritated or inflamed skin.
Coconut oil is naturally anti-bacterial. This is due to lauric acid, which constitutes about 80% of coconut oil, and is a powerful anti-bacterial agent. The only other natural substance high in lauric acid is breast milk!

These anti-bacterial properties have many wonderful benefits for skin by protecting vulnerable skin from pathogens and infections. Most importantly, it reduces the risk of bacterial infections in acne, preventing the formation of white-heads whilst the oil cleanses pores of excess sebum.
Coconut oil is also anti-fungal, preventing the occurrence of fungal skin infections, and limiting their spread.
